The greatest gift we can give our children is the gift of having God in their lives.  While parents are the primary teachers of the faith to their children, our School of Religion has a dedicated staff of teachers who enhance the children’s knowledge about God’s love for us and the beliefs of our faith.  Mrs. Melissa Wagner is our Director of Faith Formation and Sandra Arcati is our Administrative Assistant.

The school has approximately 225 students, from 1st through 7th grade.  The children meet on Wednesday afternoons. Classes meet from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. The children receive their First Reconciliation and First Eucharist in the 2nd Grade and the 7th Grade prepares for their Confirmation the following fall.  If you have a child who has not been receiving religious education and would like to register them in our program, please call the school office at 718-763-5533 and we will make the arrangements.

The teachers working in the program are volunteers of varying ages and careers. If you are interested in volunteering your services as a teacher or an assistant in the School of Religion, please call the office and let us know. There are a few requirements. You will need to be approved by Msgr. Grimaldi and Mrs. Melissa Wagner, you must be a practicing Catholic and have good knowledge of the faith. You are also required to take some diocesan classes and be Virtus trained. This is a wonderful way to serve your parish.
